Homemade Banana Mint Dog Treats

Banana Mint Dog Treats Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 7 cups oatmeal, ground to a powder
  • 6 bananas
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup dried mint leaves, ground with oatmeal
  • 2 tablespoons flax seeds
  • Optional: Additional oat flour for dusting

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius). Prepare baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
  2. Prepare the Ingredients:

    • Using a Vitamix blender or food processor, grind 7 cups of oatmeal to a fine powder. Transfer the ground oatmeal to a large mixing bowl.
    • Mash the bananas until smooth in a separate bowl.
    • Grind the dried mint leaves in the blender along with the oatmeal until they form a fine powder.
    • Measure out the ground cinnamon and flax seeds.
  3. Mix the Ingredients:

    • In the large mixing bowl with the ground oatmeal, add the mashed bananas, ground cinnamon, ground mint leaves, and flax seeds. Mix well until a dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, you can add a little more ground oatmeal until it reaches a manageable consistency.
  4. Roll and Cut the Dough:

    • Place a silicone baking mat or a piece of parchment paper on a flat surface. Dust lightly with oat flour to prevent sticking.
    • Take portions of the dough and roll it out to no more than 1/2 inch thick. You can use a rolling pin for this.
    • Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes from the rolled dough, or simply cut it into small squares or strips for training treats. Alternatively, you can roll the dough into logs and slice them into bite-sized pieces.

    • Bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes, or until the treats are golden brown and firm to the touch.
  6. Cool and Store:

    • Once baked, remove the treats from the oven and allow them to cool completely on a wire rack.
    • Once cooled, store the banana dog treats in an airtight container to maintain freshness. They can be stored at room temperature for up to a week, or longer if kept in the refrigerator.
