Eco Friendly Homemade Dishwasher Tabs

Here's a simple recipe for making dishwasher tabs

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup salt
  • 1 cup washing soda
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 3/4 cup lemon juice

Instructions:

    1. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the salt, washing soda, and baking soda. Stir well to ensure even distribution of ingredients.

    2. Add Lemon Juice: Slowly pour the lemon juice into the dry mixture. As you pour, the mixture may fizz a bit due to the reaction between the lemon juice and baking soda. This is normal. Stir continuously as you add the lemon juice to incorporate it evenly into the dry ingredients.

    3. Form Tabs: Once the mixture is thoroughly combined and resembles damp sand in texture, it's ready to be formed into tabs. Take small portions of the mixture and press them firmly into a silicone ice cube tray or mold of your choice. Make sure to compact the mixture tightly to ensure the tabs hold their shape.

  1. Dry: Allow the tabs to dry completely. This can take anywhere from 12 to 24 hours depending on the humidity level in your area. You can speed up the drying process by placing the tabs in a sunny spot or using a dehydrator.

  2. Store: Once the tabs are completely dry, carefully remove them from the mold and store them in an airtight container. Make sure to label the container properly.

  3. Usage: To use the dishwasher tabs, simply place one tab in the detergent compartment of your dishwasher before starting a wash cycle. Adjust the number of tabs according to the size of your dishwasher and the level of soiling on your dishes.

These homemade dishwasher tabs are eco-friendly and free from harsh chemicals, making them a great alternative to store-bought dishwasher detergents. Enjoy clean dishes without the worry of harmful ingredients!
